TheGivingTree

Summery

Once there was a tree and a boy. They loved with each other. The boy would come to the tree to play every day, such as making the leaves into crowns, play king of the forest, climbing up her truck, etc. The tree felt very happy when the boy accompanied her. However, with the time passing by, the boy grew up and did not come to play with the tree. Therefore, the tree was often alone. Whenever the boy came back to her, he asked for more helps from the tree. The tree never rejected the boy's requests and gave him everything, from selling the apples to cutting her trunk to make a boat. The tree was not happy at all. Finally, the tree had nothing but an old stump. This time, the boy told her that he did not want anything from her and just wanted to sit and rested on her. Finally, the boy sat on her and the tree became extremely happy.

When I saw the book’s name “The giving tree”, I wondered what a tree could give us. A shade to rest? After reading it, I am so touched. At first, the tree is the best friends to the little boy. After he grows up, he asks for everything and the tree gives him. When I see the page that the man cut down the tree to be a boat, I cry. How can the man be so mean, bad, and cold-blooded? However, the tree does not ask for any return. As a chines proverb goes, “It is better to give than to take.” I can learn from this book that helping others is happy. Do not fuss about that you pay out but you do not receive any return. People help others should not wait and hope for return. If so, it is not a sincere help.
